What Is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda, which translates to “the science of life,” is one of the world’s oldest holistic systems of wellness. Rooted in the understanding that we are all made of the same natural elements—earth, water, fire, air, and space—Ayurveda teaches how to maintain balance through diet, lifestyle, environment, and awareness. By aligning your daily habits with your unique constitution and the rhythms of nature, you support vitality, emotional steadiness, and long-term harmony.

Voices That Validate

"I've done years of talk therapy for my trauma, but the heaviness in my pelvis never shifted. In Heemali's circle, my body finally released what my mind couldn't touch. I sobbed, I shook, and when it was over, I felt ten pounds lighter. "
Rachel M., Teacher, London
"I have had a number of yoga sessions with Heemali and they have been great. Excellent explanation of what to do and how, felt really relaxed and at ease. She was very mindful of my needs and ability, and gave me feedback and suggestions of follow ups in between. Definitely recommend and looking forward to next time."

FAQs

DISCLAIMER: Somatic practices are complementary wellness approaches, not therapy. Consult your healthcare provider before beginning any new practice.

What is somatic movement?

Somatic movement is a body-centered practice that focuses on internal awareness rather than external performance. The word 'somatic' comes from the Greek 'soma,' meaning body. Sessions involve slow, intentional movements that help you reconnect with physical sensations you may have learned to ignore.

Is it normal to feel emotional during somatic work?

Yes, this is common. The body holds tension patterns connected to emotional experiences. When physical tension releases, emotions may surface. This can include anything from tears to laughter to a sense of relief. There is no need to analyze or understand these emotions. Simply allowing them to move through is sufficient.
